The Synology DS218 Dubai 2-Bay NAS Enclosure facilitates seamless file sharing and synchronization across diverse devices and public cloud storage services, irrespective of location. Beyond its foundational role, this NAS unit contributes to elevated work productivity, improved team collaboration, and real-time 4K H.265 video transcoding capabilities. Featuring two drive bays compatible with 3.5″ SATA hard drives, as well as 2.5″ SATA hard drives and SSDs, the DS218 supports the storage and sharing of a broad range of files, accommodating up to 2048 user accounts.

Operating on the Synology DiskStation Manager (DSM) OS, a user-friendly browser-based system, the DS218 streamlines the management of your Synology NAS. Powered by a 1.4 GHz Realtek RTD1296 Quad-Core CPU and 2GB of DDR4 RAM, it ensures rapid access to frequently-used files and applications. With sequential read and write speeds reaching up to 112 MB/s, coupled with a dedicated hardware transcoding engine for on-the-fly transcoding of 10-bit 4K H.265 video, the NAS excels in data transfer and multimedia capabilities. The inclusion of two USB 3.0 Type-A ports and one USB 2.0 Type-A port enables connectivity to Windows or Mac systems, while the integrated Gigabit Ethernet port facilitates network access for sharing data across the network. Remote data access is supported through free iOS and Android applications. The integrated 4K multimedia server, combined with Video Station and DS video, facilitates the conversion and playback of 4K videos on various devices.

For users requiring RAID support, the DS218 accommodates RAID 0 and 1, as well as Synology Hybrid RAID and Basic RAID, offering a spectrum of options for performance, data redundancy, or a blend of both. Alternatively, for those not in need of RAID, JBOD allows individual utilization of each drive bay.

Engineered for energy efficiency, the DS218 integrates a 92 x 92mm fan for consistent cooling, coupled with a noise dampening design registering at 19.3 dB(A) for quiet operation. The server supports scheduled power on/off cycles and hard drive hibernation, contributing to minimized power consumption and operational expenses.
