In comparison to the previous generation of RackStation units, the Synology RS2421 and RS2421RP Dubai models exhibit improved performance. With optimal configurations, they offer a remarkable 103% increase in random writing IOPS and a substantial 161% boost in random-read IOPS. Notably, the models showcase a 26% improvement in sequential read performance, reaching 2,200 MB/s, and a 63% increase in sequential write performance, reaching 1,154 MB/s.
These models provide extensive customization options to cater to the unique demands of each company and user. Enhancements such as equipping a Synology 10GbE or 25GbE NIC for improved network performance and expanding the NVMe SSD cache with SNV3400/3500, including an M.2 adapter card, are viable options. The Synology RS2421 and RS2421RP Dubai also support up to 32 GB of DDR4 ECC memory, enabling a greater number of simultaneous connections, hosting more virtual machines with Virtual Machine Manager, or accommodating larger volumes. Moreover, the possibility of doubling the number of bays to 24 is achievable by incorporating a 12-bay RX1217 expansion unit(Rp).
