Featuring four drive bays, it natively supports 3.5″ SATA hard drives, as well as 2.5″ SATA hard drives and SSDs, delivering impressive sequential read speeds of over 1621 MB/s and sequential write speeds exceeding 599 MB/s over 10GbE networks.

To expand storage capacity, users can opt for the RX418 expansion unit, offering an additional four identical drive bays. The Synology RS820RP Dubai is fortified with a redundant power supply to ensure continuous operation even in the event of power interruptions. Powering this NAS is a 2.1 GHz Intel Atom C3538 Quad-Core processor, enabling the concurrent execution of multiple functions. The 2GB onboard DDR4 RAM, expandable up to 18GB, ensures quick access to frequently used files and programs.

Connectivity options include two USB 3.0 Type-A ports and one eSATA port for linking to Windows or Mac systems, or the RX418 expansion unit. Network connectivity is achieved through four Gigabit Ethernet ports with failover support, offering redundancy in case of LAN connection issues. Link aggregation, facilitated by four LAN ports, enhances connection speeds beyond the limits of a single network port or cable.

Running on the DiskStation Manager (DSM) operating system, the Synology RS820RP Dubai simplifies NAS management, data access, and sharing. It supports various RAID modes, including RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, Basic, and Synology Hybrid RAID, providing users with options for data redundancy, speed, or a combination of both. For those not requiring RAID, JBOD is available, allowing individual utilization of each drive bay.

Designed for energy efficiency, the Synology RS820RP Dubai incorporates two 40 x 40 x 20mm fans for optimal cooling, complemented by a noise-dampening design for quiet operation. The server supports scheduled power on/off cycles and hard drive hibernation to minimize power consumption and operational expenses.
